MemoHasp Plug Drivers

The MemoHasp Plug is a security device that enables software options in the iXRF system.   This device is either connected to the printer port or a USB port on the computer.  The plug requires a device driver in order for the iXRF software to recognize it.  If, when starting the iXRF software, a message appears indicating a problem with the MemoHasp plug, you may need to update the driver. 

Below are some useful procedures for determining the driver version installed, installing a new driver, and removing the driver.

Determining The Version Of The Driver

To determine the version of the MemoHasp driver presently installed on the computer, do the following:

1. Find the file "hinstall.exe" on the computer.  It is normally installed with the application (EDS2000, Analytical Interface, etc) in the "Program Files" folder (e.g., \program files\eds2000\hinstall.exe).  You can use the Windows Search to locate the file.
2. Run hinstall with the option "\info".  You can do this by using Windows Start/Run feature.  Below is an example.

Installing A New Driver

Below is the latest driver for the MemoHasp plug and instructions for installing it:

Version 4.95

To install a driver do the following:

1. If the computer operating system is Windows/NT, Windows/2000, or Windows/XP, you will need to be logged on with Administrator priveleges.
2. Download the file from the link above (Version 4.95).  This is a ZIP file.
3. Extract the files from the downloaded file.  The file which you will need from the extracted files is hinstall.exe
4. Run the extracted file, hinstall.exe, with the option /i.  This will install the driver.  You can do this by using Windows Start/Run feature.  Below is an example.
   
   After clicking OK, the driver will be installed and a message confirming the installation will be displayed.
5. The computer may need to be restarted to complete the installation of the driver.
6. Confirm that the correct version of the driver is installed by performing the steps shown at the top of this page for determining the version of the driver.

Removing the Driver

The iXRF software will not operate correctly without a MemoHasp driver.  However, sometimes it may be necessary to remove the existing driver before installing a new driver for the plug. 

To remove the driver do the following:

1. Find the file "hinstall.exe" on the computer.  It is normally installed with the application (EDS2000, Analytical Interface, etc) in the "Program Files" folder (e.g., \program files\eds2000\hinstall.exe).  You can use the Windows Search to locate the file.
2. Run hinstall with the option "\r".  You can do this by using Windows Start/Run feature.  Below is an example.
   
   
   After clicking OK, a message confirming the action will be displayed.
3. The computer may need to be restarted to complete the removal of the driver.
